Suzie has become a spokesperson for arthritis in Australia. She has been an active volunteer and consumer representative with Arthritis Western Australia for six years. She sat on the Board of Management from 2005 to 2008; has been a guest lecturer to medical students at the University of Western Australia and Notre Dame University in 2006, 2008 and 2009; was guest speaker at a Parliamentary Breakfast Briefing at the Parliament of Western Australia in 2009 and at The Spectrum of Pain 28th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Australian Pain Society in 2008.

Suzie was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Western Australia in March 2004. She worked as an Articled Clerk with the State Solicitors Office in Western Australia before following a career of legal policy and law reform with the Office of the Inspector of Custodial Services (Western Australia) and as Director of legal consultancy 'May Legal'.
After completing an Associate Diploma in Social Science (Welfare) in 1993 Suzie worked as a Welfare Officer in adult psychiatry and rehabilitation medicine and as a lecturer in Social Science between 1994 and 1999.
Suzie is wife to Chris; and mother to Oscar and Olive.
